Counselling groups are for women interested in healing, sharing, learning and growing together with other women in a caring supportive environment. |
Our groups offer the opportunity to focus on the following:
- The dynamics of an abusive relationship and the tactics abusers use to gain power and control over their partners
- The importance of self-care, self-esteem, and healthy relationships
- Exploring how to handle emotions such as guilt, anger, depression and shame
- Developing tools to help your children overcome the impact of experiencing abuse in the home
- Learning how to trust yourself and create positive changes
- Provide advocacy and referrals to a wide variety of community services including but not limited to: Legal, medical, educational and housing opportunities
- Referrals to programs and services that assist children who have witnessed domestic violence
In order to participate in the group program, you must first be enrolled in one-on-one counselling. This is to ensure that you are prepared for a group counselling environment and that your particular issues are appropriate for the group program.
